Sir,
I have the honour to transmit for
your consideration copy: of a letter from the Honourable
. Captain Superintendent of Police, requesting that he may
be allowed to draw on the 1st January 1902 the increment
of salary, which, under the rule laid down in paragraph 11
· of your despatch No 280. of the 8th December 1899, would
apparently not be due to him till the lat January 1903.
2. In vier of Mr May's long and
good service in the Hongkong Police Force, I trust that
you will consent to modify the rule in his favour.
